I'm not sure just how to define my question, im focusing on my custom Wordpress theme, and I have added custom input area generally Configurations in Wordpress admin, by editing general.php and adding a brand new array generally list, i quickly produced a brand new tablerow in options-general.php:

<tr valign="top">
<th scope="row"><label for="siteupdates"><?php _e('Site Updates') ?></label></th>
<td><input name="siteupdates" type="text" id="content"
"value="<?php  form_option('siteupdates'); ?>" class="regular-text" ></>
<span class="description"><?php _e('Site news,updates,etc.') ?></span></td>
</tr>

as well as added a div in header.php where i needed so that it is proven:

<div id="siteInfo">
<?php form_option('siteupdates'); ?>
</div><!--siteInfo end-->

i quickly added new Query in wordpress database in phpmyadmin ('siteupdates') and everything is effective,because im very new in php, i've viewed plenty of lessons and located this way was the simplest for me personally. Now i wish to change this input to some textarea area, however when i transformed html to:

<tr valign="top">
<th scope="row"><label for="siteupdates"><?php _e('Site updates') ?></label></th>
<td><textarea name="siteupdates" type="text" id="content"
cols="50" rows="6" value="<?php form_option('siteupdates'); ?>" class="regular-text">
</textarea>
<span class="description"><?php _e('Site news,updates,etc.') ?></span></td>
</tr>

Its looks fine, i see textfield rather than input, however i cant store data inside it. Where shall we be held wrong?

A couple of things :

a) Consider creating your personal Administrative menus. More information here

b) Rather than storing your choices with custom db queries, you need to use [cde]

c) Your textarea includes a add_option which is not needed.

d) If you are planning to possess content inside, you need to consider [cde] It's new in Wordpress 3.3
