I made an Apache virtual host for any web application that actually works fine, however i have trouble with the URL. I would like my application to become utilized only utilizing an url similar with: http://ip_address/app_name, however the aplication could be access also with http://ip_address/.

My virtual host appears like this:

NameVirtualHost 192.168.5.235:80

<VirtualHost 192.168.5.235:80>
  ServerName 192.168.5.235
  Alias /ksw "/home/ksw/site"
  DocumentRoot "/home/ksw/site/"
  ErrorLog /home/ksw/logs/error_log
  CustomLog /home/ksw/logs/access_log combined
</VirtualHost>

It is possible to method to configure my application to become utilized only using http://ip_adress/app_name? Thanks.

Captain Apparent states it should not be so. =)
Might be only when 'app_name' dir is really a symbolic connect to 'ip_addr' dir.
Or if you are using django (for instance) and set up sights improperly.
Would you use php? If that's the case - something certainly wrong happens=)

added:
Should you 'app_name' string is really 'ksw' than...
You've installed you mediawiki within the site root dir and just added a hyperlink by 'Alias /ksw' into it!!
Solutions:

  • If you would like Simply to restrict use of http://ip_address/ use .htaccess apache file.
  • If you would like 2 different pages at / and /application_title you have to create folder 'app_name' and install your application there!

That's all.
