How do you setup Cakephp to operate correctly on Bluehost? Must I place my application, cake and vendor folders in addition to .htaccess and index.php files within the /public_html/ directory? I adopted the instructions here... http://book.cakephp.org/view/37/Apache-and-mod_rewrite-and-htaccess with no success. All I see after i type the title to this site is really a blank page!

The technique which i adopted to setup everything are available here... http://www.ad7six.com/MiBlog/ProductionSetup

  • /cake_install
  • /cake_install/application
  • /cake_install/cake
  • /cake_install/vendor
  • /public_html/.htaccess
  • /public_html/index.php

/public_html may have additional information initially present in application/webroot but that is described within the link above

    if (!defined('ROOT')) {
	//define('ROOT', dirname(dirname(dirname(__FILE__))));
	define('ROOT',DS.'cake_install');
}

    if (!defined('APP_DIR')) {
	//define('APP_DIR', basename(dirname(dirname(__FILE__))));
	define('APP_DIR',DS.'app');
}

    if (!defined('CAKE_CORE_INCLUDE_PATH')) {
	//define('CAKE_CORE_INCLUDE_PATH', ROOT);
	define('CAKE_CORE_INCLUDE_PATH',DS.'cake_install');
}

With bluehost, remember the folders outdoors the webroot (ie your house folder) will also be accessible for the application - no particular have to place the framework inside folders which are available to the outdoors world.
