This can be a continuation from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1704845/redirect-only-html-files

How do i change my .htaccess to really make it exclude certain subfolders or subdomains in the HTML-only redirect? I attempted doing by using this code to exclude the 'downloads' subfolder and also the 'dev' and 'support' subdomains, however it did not work:

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^pandamonia.us$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.pandamonia.us$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !download [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !faq
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !support [OR]
RewriteRule /.+\.html$ "http\:\/\/pandamonia\.us\/" [L]

You have to check REQUEST_URI or even the whole match from the RewriteRule $0 with this HTTP_HOST does only retain the host title from the current request. You should also alter the logical expression of the condition:

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^pandamonia\.us$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.pandamonia\.us$
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/download/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/faq/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/support/
RewriteRule /.+\.html$ http://pandamonia.us/ [L]

For individuals searching for a fast little bit of understanding of Gumbo's previous reply (where he mentions the situations when ever to (and never to) use [OR], I discovered this WMW thread very useful: http://www.webmasterworld.com/apache/3522649.htm
