Can anybody point me to some good primer how a massive commercial website like amazon . com.com is to establish? Most significantly, Let me learn about the way the databases are positioned up. Have they got a distributed group of databases to balance the burden, that transmits updates to 1 'master' database, etc.? Does not need to be the interior dope(although that's more suitable), only a plausible account of methods wise people would run an amazon . com.com.

This might be helpful for you..

Besides this site consists of architectural details about other high volume websites.

Also take a look only at that video The Amazon . com.com Technology Platform: Foundations for Innovation.

The men at software engineering radio did an interview podcast with Werner Vogels, who's the CTO of amazon . com.com.

Quite interresting and lots of detail.
