I'm utilizing a nice jquery slideshow wordpress plugin I discovered and looking to get results into my Wordpress template. I've attempted the code below in a variety of formats however i can't appear to have it generate an income want.

Part one is how the title and content from the publish reads in to the slider, utilizing a specific category. I've 3 of those sections:

<div class="details_wrapper">
<div class="details">
<div class="detail">
<?php query_posts('cat_ID=7&showposts=1');
if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post();?>
<h2 class="Lexia-Bold"><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>">
<?php the_title() ?></a><?php the_excerpt(); ?></h2>
<?php endwhile; endif;
?>
</div><!-- /detail -->

<div class="detail">
<?php query_posts('cat_ID=8&showposts=1');
if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post();?>
<h2 class="Lexia-Bold"><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>">
<?php the_title() ?></a><?php the_excerpt(); ?></h2>
<?php endwhile; endif;
?>
</div><!-- /detail -->

<div class="detail">
<?php query_posts('cat_ID=9&showposts=1');
if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post();?>
<h2 class="Lexia-Bold"><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>">
<?php the_title() ?></a><?php the_excerpt(); ?></h2>
<?php endwhile; endif;
?>
</div><!-- /detail -->
</div><!-- /details -->
</div>

This really works, however i only need it to publish the title and excerpt from one from the posts in the category noted. I had been reading through which i might need to add the wp_reset_query(); line somewhere to eliminate the prior loop's query, but I am unsure.

Here's the 2nd area of the code in which the post's featured image is retrieved:

<div class="item item_1">
<?php query_posts('cat_ID=7&posts_per_page=1'); ?>
<?php the_post_thumbnail( 'single-post-thumbnail' ); ?>
</div><!-- /item -->

<div class="item item_2">
<?php query_posts('cat_ID=8&posts_per_page=1'); ?>
<?php the_post_thumbnail( 'single-post-thumbnail' ); ?>
</div><!-- /item -->

<div class="item item_3">
<?php query_posts('cat_ID=9&posts_per_page=1'); ?>
<?php the_post_thumbnail( 'single-post-thumbnail' ); ?>
</div>

Any help could be greatly appreciated :) Here's an example.

Perhaps you have attempted using...

query_posts('cat_ID=9&posts_per_page=1');

Or I have tried personally get_publish before as while to obtain specific amount of publish like so...

 <?php
 global $post;
 $myposts = get_posts('posts_per_page=1&numberposts=-1&category=1');
 foreach($myposts as $post) :
 ?>
<h6><a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a></h6>
<?php setup_postdata($post);?>
<?php the_excerpt(); ?>
<?php endforeach; ?>
</div>

If it is only one publish you would like you would not actually need the foreach or while loop.

I made use of the technique Tianbo84 recommended above both to question the posts And also the featured images from that publish to complete the task :) Thanks Tianbo84! To my understanding, the get_posts and <?php endforeach; ?> lines were key... like opening a question after which closing it when the data was retrieved.
