I've got a large (~40gb) SQL Server 2008 database that I must proceed to the cloud. The database uses lots of SQL Server 2008 specific (and non-specific) features (SQLCLR, xml, indexes, partitions, etc). Thus, my preference is always to make use of the exact database, however in the cloud.

What exactly are my options? The brand new SQL Azure only enables small databases, along with a subset of TSQL. I wish to whole factor. I'd still prefer to connect with it using Management Studio.

If you would like "the entire factor" and wish to have the ability to connect with your SQL-Azure store with SSMS, you will need to hold back until SQL Server 2008 R2 (a.k.a. SQL Server 2010) has gone out - between 2010.

The SQL Server 2008 R2 November CTP just had this kind of announcement - the SSMS for your version is going to be supporting SQL Azure.
