I simply were built with a fresh install of Joomla 1.5 and am attempting to use a component. In extension manager, I select the zip file from the componenent.
However, I continue getting this error
- JFolder::create: Couldn't create directory
- Component Install: Unsuccessful to produce directory.: "/Customers/bhappy/localhost/experiments/site/htdocs/administrator/components/com_portfolio"
What triggered individuals error? I'd the chmod for that components and tmp directory set to 777 but nonetheless getting exactly the same problem.

I understand it's most likely a dumb question...
But have you look into the permissions on joomla/administrator/components? (instead of just joomla/components )
