Appears such as the trouble with this is actually the PHP syntax, but no luck in Wordpress forums. This primary code block creates a hyperlink towards the latest publish in category "posts."

<?php $my_query = new WP_Query('category_name=posts&showposts=1'); ?>
<?php while ($my_query->have_posts()) : $my_query->the_post(); ?>
  <a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark"><?php the_title(); ?></a>
<?php endwhile; ?>

This next code block should display the custom area data for that latest publish in "posts," using the key from the custom area being "qanda." However it does not also it shows nothing.

<?php $my_query = new WP_Query('category_name=posts&showposts=1'); ?>
<?php while ($my_query->have_posts()) : $my_query->the_post(); ?>
  <?php echo get_post_meta($post->ID, "qanda", $single = true); ?>
<?php endwhile; ?>

Thanks, Mark

Apart fromthat $single = true must be true it appears OK... try [cde] rather than var_dump and find out what you'll get.

try renaming your next query, otherwise Wordpress will believe it is already done

echo

You will need to title it different things. Wordpress may think you have already done that group of posts, so it's beginning in the finish, meaning it does not have any longer posts process.
