I acquired accustomed to the xml support and recursive common table expressions of sql server 2005. I'm just wondering whether any free dbs like mysql support these needs nowadays? Thanks.

Christian

PostgreSQL has support for XML, CTE's, windowing functions, etc. etc. etc. And it is not restricted to a lousy 4GB. Additionally, it operates on Linux, Home windows, etc.

Edit: MySQL does not support XML nor CTE's, nor windowing functions.
