It is possible to method to catch an association error when utilizing pelops in Java? I've the next code but for whatever reason, I am not dealing with my catch block.

public static Boolean testDBConnection() throws PelopsException {
    try{
        Cluster cluster = new Cluster("127.0.0.1", 9160);

        Pelops.addPool(pool, cluster, keyspace);

        Pelops.shutdown();

        return true;
    }
    catch(PelopsException e)
    {
        System.out.println("SOMETHING WENT WRONG!");
        System.out.println(e.getMessage());
        return false;
    }
}

This really is most likely something quite simple, however i can't appear to have it to operate. I begin to see the exceptions coming through, but there's just not a way I'm able to catch this? Could someone please lead me within the right direction?

Thanks!

EDIT - Exception being came back in Eclipse Console...

The exception being tossed org.apache.thrift.TTransportException is really a checked exception that's not caught and wrapped by PelopsException which stretches RuntimeException.

If you would like your approach to always return a PelopsException, you have to catch(Exception e) after which throw new PelopsException(e.getMessage()) within your catch block.

   catch(Exception e)
{
    System.out.println("SOMETHING WENT WRONG!");
    System.out.println(e.getMessage());
    throw new PelopsException(e.getMessage());
}

It might be tossing an unchecked exception or perhaps an Error (that is not the best).

Try altering your code to catch (Throwable e) and find out what you'll get.
