I'm presently attempting to write a PHP script for connecting for an Oracle database. The main reason I'm using PHP happens because I have to connect the Oracle database with my current CRM system, designed in PHP/MySQL.

The PHP is located on 1&1 hosting, that is an exterior server. I just read that I have to let the extension php_oci8.dll for connecting using oci_connect(), however i canrrrt do so since I don't have root rights. Did searching, and could not discover the DLL either.

Can there be every other way for this? Any help greatly appreciated, please tell me if you want more details. Thanks!

1) 1&1 may have Linux, so you'll have to use linux names for extensions. Within this situation title of extension is going to be php_oci8.so

2) produce the php.ini in root directory and set the next line extension=php_oci8.so

3) produce a simple php script with one line to check whether it works: <?php phpinfo(); ?>

Please be aware -- 1&1 may physically not have access to that file on their server (or some additional libraries that might be needed with that extension). When the problem simply with lack of .so file, you'll be able to provide your personal version from it (upload it and set the right full road to the extension in php.ini)
