I have to have links to mp3 files on the Wordpress site hidden in the user without having to be hidden in the music player I've set on the page to experience them. (Initial defense against unauthorized downloads.)

I'd like to get rid of the "wordpress-" prefix on all wordpress folder names (wordpress-admin, wordpress-content, wordpress-includes) in ways that won't break future updates to Wordpress.

Best if these two tasks can be achieved without renaming the particular directory and rather using PHP, .htaccess, Javascript, or something like that else to "mask" the real url.

Thanks!

Unsure regarding how good you'll have the ability to mask anything using JavaScript. A much better solution is always to produce a PHP Script that will serve your mp3 files according to whether a person is authenticated or something like that. This way you can a minimum of keep mp3 files one folder up out of your web root and from people attempting to download them using web addresses.
