Quite simply, take away the index.html area of the code...
Something similar to this maybe:
RewriteRule ^$ index.html [NC]
Whenever you type www.domain.com in to the browser, offcourse index.html is opened up. However when you click "home" around the menu on my small website, the whole full url is displayed, which I wish to avoid. Then when striking "home" www.domain.com/index.html is proven... Although not when entering www.domain.com within the adress bar, then that can have, but index.html pops up anyways.
So yes, I want this:

RewriteRule ^index.html$ / [NC]
Replace "index.html" with "/", not "" with "index.html"
To redirect demands for /index.html to /
RewriteRule ^index.html$ http://www.mydomain.com/ [R=301,L]
