I discovered a pleasant project management software application designed in Django (busylissy.com). Regrettably, the men write there at the very top they intend to shut it lower and released it as being free for more development. I had been considering hosting it on ixwebhosting.com using the fundamental linux program, but I am unsure whether this really is even possible, so that's essentially the question.
I have only the use of the fundamental configuration, and so i can't really install anything on that server. Within the needs.txt, the application lists following :
# **Django** Django==1.1 # **Imaging** http://effbot.org/downloads/Imaging-1.1.6.tar.gz # **STDImage** -e git+git://github.com/gearheart/django-stdimage.git#egg=stdimage # **Django AuthOpenID** -e hg+https://email@example.com/benoitc/django-authopenid#egg=django_authopenid # **Django registration** -e hg+https://firstname.lastname@example.org/ubernostrum/django-registration#egg=registration # **Marking** -e svn+http://django-marking.googlecode.com/svn/trunk#egg=marking # **Authority** -e hg+https://email@example.com/jezdez/django-authority#egg=authority # **Filebrowser** -e svn+http://django-filebrowser.googlecode.com/svn/trunk#egg=filebrowser # **Markdown** -e git+git://gitorious.org/python-markdown/mainline.git#egg=markdown # **Treebeard** -e svn+http://django-treebeard.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/#egg=treebeard # **Locale url** -e svn+http://django-localeurl.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/#egg=localeurl # **Thumbnail** -e hg+https://sorl-thumbnail.googlecode.com/hg/#egg=sorl-thumbnail # **DateUtil** http://labix.org/download/python-dateutil/python-dateutil-1.4.1.tar.gz
Can there be any opportunity to develop a self-contained version with all of these requirements incorporated that does not require a lot more than mod_python or must i rather start searching for another tool ?
It's dependencies that need put together code (for example PIL). I am not necessarily sure exactly what the 'basic linux program' is about, or that which you mean by 'self contained', but it might be trivial to set up these dependencies on any normal linux machine. You'd have trouble on some hosting that is shared platforms that don't possess the put together libs available and don't riding time your personal, etc.
Also avoid using mod_python, use mod_wsgi
You could utilize virtualenv (http://pypi.python.org/pypi/virtualenv)
