I am focusing on a wordpress plugin and I am using wordpress' custom publish type feature. Essentially I am developing a "Featured links" of sorts..to ensure that you can include a hyperlink just like you'd give a publish. User makes its way into a title, url (custom area) and sets a featured image. The issue is, this produces an empty publish for every link added. Using custom publish types--can there be anyway to create the capacity_type to links or blogroll type?

When designing custom publish types with register_publish_type, If you won't want to allow direct accessibility publish you could attempt setting public to false after which set query_var to true or perhaps your publish type that we believe would permit you to still display the hyperlinks although not allow direct accessibility publish. I've not examined this though. I'd have just put this inside a comment however i do not have sufficient status. http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_post_type

Unsure should you must use custom publish types.

If you do not. Perhaps you have attempted publish formats?
