I am attempting to personalize a HTML5 Boilerplate WordPress theme to build up my very own theme, however i can't have any functions to operate: my index.php file begins with

<!DOCTYPE html>
<!--[if lt IE 7 ]> <html <?php language_attributes(); ?> class="no-js ie6"> <![endif]-->

However when I view source, the document finishes with <html. It does not produce a fatal error ("Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_header() in /home/micha162/public_html/index.php on line 1"), because it would on the server without WordPress installed. I have incorporated all of the needed WordPress files and that i can log into wordpress-admin all right. I am storing it on the subfolder but I have rerouted the website Address towards the root folder, where index.php and header.php are installed. What is failing?

You have to install wordpress styles in to the theme directory, not the main directory.

The theme directory is: /wp-content/themes.
