I'm attempting to move a website from the live hyperlink to my local mamp enviroment. How could I actually do this like me getting a genuine discomfort within the back side carrying this out as wordpress-admin continues redirecting me to my live site or saying certain pages don't exist.

If anybody might help

I am presuming you've already replicated your whole WordPress directory out of your web server for your local MAMP folder.

To consider proper care of the database and Web addresses, I've found it simplest to export the whole DB out of your web server using phpMyAdmin or similar, then run find and replace around the released SQL file to exchange your old url (http://www.yourwebsite.com/) together with your MAMP url (http://localhost:8888/yourwebsite) then run the SQL script to set up the database in your area (I personally use SequelPro).

You may also edit wordpress-config.php (in root dir) and add/modify wrinkles:

$ntz_site_url = 'http://localhost:8888/';

define('WP_SITEURL', $ntz_site_url);
define('WP_HOME', $ntz_site_url);
define( 'WP_CONTENT_URL', $ntz_site_url.'/wp-content');
define( 'WP_PLUGIN_URL', $ntz_site_url.'/wp-content/plugins');
