How do i edit the php to obtain my WordPress sidebar to simply show up on choose pages (i.e. this is not on the house contributing to pages)?

I'd prefer php over css if at all possible.

You can produce a page template that does not range from the call to get_sidebar(), then only use that template for whichever pages you wouldn't want your sidebar showing up on.

You should use the function is_page() inside your template and rendering the sidebar only when you'll need.

Small example, in sidebar.php from the twentyten theme of Wordpress

<div id="secondary" class="widget-area" role="complementary">
        <ul class="xoxo">
            <?php
             if (is_page('my-page') {
                  dynamic_sidebar( 'secondary-widget-area' ); }
            ?>
        </ul>
</div><!-- #secondary .widget-area -->

This little snippet results the sidebar only when you're in the page which has the slug 'my-page'.
Hope this help!
