Sorry to request this type of total newbie question - I am battling by having an exception to the SSL redirection rules on our Wordpress site. Essentially, things are redirecting as http to https.

Feedburner does not support https feeds (grr!) so I am wishing to produce the best to avoid demands for [http://domain.co.united kingdom/feed/] being rerouted to [https://domain.co.united kingdom/feed/]

Our redirect rules inshtaccess look similar to this:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]

Every help really, really appreciated. Thanks!

Try

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
#exclude /feed/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/feed/ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]

#This section is optional
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} on
#send any cached https /feed/ back to http
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/feed/ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]

Should you formerly visited the /feed/ URL and were rerouted, this redirect is going to be cached inside your browser. To check it works properly after altering the rule, switch to private browsing, or obvious you browser cache.

If you feel existing clients have a similar problem i.e. a cached https redirect to /feed/ you can the not compulsory section to transmit it well to http
